HVAP participated in the international conference on "Addressing Poverty and Vulnerability in the Hindu Kush Himalayas: Forging Regional Partnerships to Enable Transformative Change" organised by National Planning Commission, Nepal and ICIMOD on 1-4 December 2013.

The conference was aimed at compiling updated knowledge on the contours of poverty and enablers of a sustainable development approach for the Hindu Kush Himalayas (HKH) and thereby, providing inputs specific to the mountain context that can contribute to the formulation of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

Senior Agriculture Officer Mr Hari Gurung presented on "Fostering Value Chain Based Inclusive Business Approach in HVAP" at the plenary session "What Fosters Community Innovations? Good Practices from Across the Region Highlighting Actors and Factors" on 3 December at the conference. The session highlighted selected examples of good practices that have helped to foster community innovations. HVAP also presented a poster on its innovations at the Market Place session on 4 December 2013.

The conference strongly endorsed that partnership and regional cooperation are crucial and must be strengthened. The participants unanimously agreed that engaging private sector as responsible partner in inclusive development in HKH region would create meaningful impact on poverty eradication. Outlining the contours of Post-2015 Development Agenda in the mountain context, the panelists highlighted the need for capability enhancement of the mountain people to transform their own future.
