The 5th National Agro Expo 2012 was organised with the theme “Commercialisation of agriculture for food security and income generation” to promote and develop agriculture sector in Nepal. The Expo was inaugurated by the Rt. Honourable Prime Minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai. Agro Enterprise Centre (AEC) of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoAC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) jointly organised the event. SNV Netherlands Development Organisation was also one of the supporting and contributing partners in organising the expo.

The trade expo featured altogether 150 stalls with products ranging from vegetable seeds, honey to medicinal and aromatic plants products from all parts of Nepal. The event was helpful in promoting and exploring market for different agricultural products.

The national level trade expo has not only created public awareness on the availability of diverse agricultural and forest products, but also opened opportunities for new areas of agro business to build business to business (B2B) linkages. It also increased awareness on recent agricultural technologies for wider use by farmers and/or producers to increase productivity as well as production of such commodities in Nepal.
