Conducted Story Cycle Camp2-Harvesting Stories and Making Changes Visible From the Field

19 July 2015| High Value Agriculture Project (HVAP) in partnership with Nepal Info Park conducted 5 days long story cycle event from 13-17 July 2015 in Surkhet.  The objective of the event is to develop sole motivation of bringing up the stories from grassroots by empowering project staff to identify, collect and present multimedia stories and digital footprint on the basis of HVAP developed knowledge themes. Hence, HVAP invites 37 participants such as 20 from PMU staff, 5 from road corridors expert, 10 from local NGOs staff, 1 from district chamber of commerce, surkhet and 2 from medias so as to develop their capacities in this field.





The training was based on constructivism paradigm where the facilitators conducted training on learning by doing approach. The team broadly classified whole training program in three categories and focused on three essential factors of storytelling. They introduced tools, tips and techniques in each respective phase in order to produce interesting, interactive and information rich stories. Two days theoretical orientation on story telling and harvesting approach and photography and videography process were given to the participants so as to prepare the team to collect and capture stories on the given theme from the field. Ten different groups were formed and directed to field to collect and capture stories mainly focusing on the themes designed by the project. These teams captured stories as a video form on Off Season Vegetables, Goat, Ginger, and Turmeric value chain from Hariyo Hira, Sano Surkhet, Lekparajul, and Ramghat. They analysed, processed and presented their captured stories as a documentary which will be uploaded on various form of online media.





Shortly, the training became very much fruitful to the participants due of process such as finalization of stories, field/ practical exposure to develop case and stories as per KM themes, Video/Photography and post-production skills and finally enhancing social media skills and presentation of stories. It has particularly enhanced the capacity of the HVAP staff to develop cases and success stories either on text, audio or video format as per knowledge themes.
