M & E and MIS Orientation Workshop organised

A five days’ Monitoring and Evaluation, and Management Information System (M&E and MIS) Orientation Workshop was organised for HVAP and local NGO staff including the Project Coordinators and Social Mobilisers by High Value Agriculture Project in Hill and Mountain Areas (HVAP) from 1-5 June 2013 in Birendranagar, Surkhet.



The workshop began with an introduction on HVAP M&E System. Following the presentation on the M&E System, the participants were introduced on Data Collection Formats and a practical session was conducted to make them familiar with filling the formats. On the second day, the participants learnt about the reporting cycle including exercise on trimester and annual report writing. Likewise, on the third day, the Value Chain Leads presented the method of calculating the cost of production of selected high value agriculture commodities. Following the calculation of the cost of production, the participants were oriented on writing success stories. The team also visited Nari Ekata Women’s Cooperative in Aapdali and interviewed the beneficiaries. Returning from the field visit, the participants wrote success stories individually and in groups. On the fourth day, the participants presented the success stories. Following the presentations, they were oriented on the MIS, roles of the users and report generation. The participants also created their individual log-in names and passwords. On the fifth day, a practical session on entering data in the system was conducted.



The workshop was facilitated and conducted by Krishna Thapa, M&E Expert including Sanjib Kumar Chaudhary, Communication and Knowledge Management Advisor and Diwakar Baral, System Analyst.
