High Value Agriculture Project in Hill and Mountain Areas (HVAP) selected local NGOs in its first seven working districts. The NGOs were selected through a competitive process by following the Public Procurement Act 2007 and Regulation 2008 of the Government of Nepal. The NGOs obtaining highest scores based on their technical and financial proposals (following QCBS) were invited for negotiation and contract agreements were signed with them.

Environment Development Society (EDS) for Surkhet; Social Service Centre (SOSEC) for Dailekh; Rural Development Nepal (RDN) for Kalikot;  Karnali Sustainable Development Academy (KASDA) for Jumla; Working for Access and Creation Nepal (WAC Nepal) for Achham; and Hilly Region Development Campaign (HRDC) for Jajarkot have already been contracted to work at the field level. Likewise, the initial negotiation with People’s Awareness for Rural Development (PARD) for Salyan district has been carried out and the contract between HVAP and PARD will be signed soon.

To orient the NGOs on HVAP, its institutional arrangements, approach, status, updates and action plan development, a three and half day Project Induction for Partner NGOs is being organised from 7-10 January 2013 at Regional Agriculture Directorate Meeting Hall, Birendranagar, Surkhet.

Besides familiarising with HVAP approach, the induction is expected to provide the partner NGO representatives with guidelines and procedure of value chain fund, post-harvest fund, and spatial inclusion fund; concepts of value chain development, inclusive business and project GSI mainstreaming strategy; fundamentals of social mobilisation and their roles; and concepts of monitoring and evaluation and their roles and responsibilities towards these. The NGO representatives will also visit the Programme Management Unit (PMU) at the end of the induction to meet with the PMU staff.
